Her journey began in the 70's when she attended Birmingham Art College and achieved a 1st class {hons} degree in interior design. Having worked in many different aspects of both commercial and domestic interior projects, her love for colour and texture enabled her to create paintings that perfectly complemented the interior projects she was working on.

Having qualified in 2001 with a PGCE in Art & Design,
Sue now concentrates purely on her art and she believes that anyone can create a picture to be proud of!

Lessons
Sue designs lessons and courses to suit the individual but are always designed with the beginner in mind.
Typically, for an absolute beginner, (i.e. someone who has not picked up a paintbrush since school) in the first 2 hours, you should come away with an understanding of most water colour equipment and techniques.

In the following 2 hour session, or the first session for someone who has a basic knowledge of watercolour, you could expect to come away with a similar painting to one of the following examples:

Individual Courses
An Introduction to watercolour painting
This includes colour theory and how to mix any colour from just 3 primaries. Also, how to use colour to create sparkle and attraction in your artwork. This could be with watercolour, inks, gouache or 'Brusho' crystals.
An Introduction to line and wash painting
Again, this includes colour theory as above with watercolour, but also the technique of loose washes and line definition, or line first and then washes in a more monotone effect. Also includes hatching / cross-hatching techniques.

All lessons relate back to the basic elements of art including composition, colour theory, line, tone, texture and shape.
All equipment is supplied for use in the lessons, together with light refreshments.
Prices of lessons for one student
£35 per hour or £60 for 2 hours.
Longer time slots of 3-4 hours can be booked if required.
Vouchers are also available as gifts.
Prices for 2 or more students, please enquire.
